Lani Perlman Appointed Co-Chair of CPR’s Banking and Financial Services Committee
New York—Holwell Shuster & Goldberg LLP counsel Lani Perlman has been named co-chair of the International Institute for Conflict Prevention and Resolution (CPR) Banking and Financial Services Committee. CPR is an independent, nonprofit organization that has helped global businesses prevent and resolve commercial disputes effectively and efficiently for more than 40 years.
In this role, Lani will help develop innovative approaches to resolving disputes among financial institutions. Previously, the Banking and Financial Services Committee has sponsored presentations on bi-lateral investment treaties, the “mediation window,” the subprime market, and the role of ADR in private party litigation involving hedge funds.
Lani, who was promoted to counsel at HSG earlier this year, represents corporate, financial, and individual clients in complex commercial disputes, particularly those involving commercial contracts, complicated financial instruments, and intellectual property. She has become a leader on residential mortgage-backed securities “putback” cases, which are resolving billions of dollars in liability associated with the bursting of the housing bubble.
Lani also helped spearhead the creation of HSG’s pro bono program and is a key member of the HSG and ACLU team representing Frontier Airlines pilots and flight attendants in groundbreaking litigation asserting that the airline’s policies regarding pregnancy and breastfeeding violate state and federal law.
