Dorit Ungar Black Named Boutique Lawyer of the Year by Lawyer Monthly Women in Law Awards 2016
NEW YORK—Holwell Shuster & Goldberg LLP announced today that Lawyer Monthly Women in Law Awards 2016 has named co-founding partner Dorit Ungar Black the U.S. Boutique Lawyer of the Year. The Lawyer Monthly Women in Law Awards celebrate and highlight the achievements of women in the legal profession across the globe who have influenced the wider legal profession in their jurisdiction.
An Israeli/Austrian immigrant who learned English as a second language and has lived in the U.S. for fewer than 15 years, Dorit was just 35-years-old when asked to co-found Holwell Shuster & Goldberg LLP. She has also been recognized as a Rising Star by the New York Law Journal and New York Metro Super Lawyers.
Over the course of her career, Dorit has represented clients such as Comcast Corporation, Duane Reade and Eurofins in a variety of commercial litigation disputes. She also represented the heirs to the Herzog Collection, the largest private art collection in Hungary prior to World War II, in a lawsuit against the Hungarian government and its state-owned museums and instrumentalities, seeking the return of more than 40 artworks with an estimated combined value of over $100 million. She focuses her practice today on disputes regarding commercial contracts, complicated financial instruments, business torts, commercial leases, and international construction projects.
