Greg Dubinsky’s Oral Argument in Cuomo v. COELIG Receives Extensive Media Coverage
New York -- HSG partner and former U.S. Supreme Court clerk Gregory Dubinsky argued at the New York Court of Appeals on January 7, 2025, in a monumental case questioning the constitutionality of the state’s Commission on Ethics and Lobbying in Government. Greg has been representing former Governor Andrew Cuomo in a separation-of-powers challenge to COELIG related to the proceeds of a book deal and has already secured two lower court wins in the matter declaring COELIG unconstitutional.
During his argument, Greg told top court judges that the law creating the current ethics panel, whose members are not accountable to the Governor, unconstitutionally “imbues this commission with sweeping, mighty law enforcement powers that are quintessential executive powers.”
A decision from New York’s top court is expected in the next two months.
Greg’s arguments were widely covered in publications including The Associated Press, The Washington Post, Bloomberg Law, New York Law Journal, Courthouse News, Times Union, News 10 ABC, City & State, Spectrum News, and others.
