Jayme Jonat Selected as 2024 Diverse Lawyer Making a Difference by Profiles in Diversity Journal
New York – Holwell Shuster & Goldberg LLP partner Jayme Jonat has been selected by Profiles in Diversity Journal as one of its Diverse Lawyers Making a Difference Award winners for 2024. She is one of 13 lawyers honored across the country for a commitment to diversifying their respective fields and driving positive change for their clients, colleagues, and communities.
Jayme earned this honor for her significant contributions to a diverse range of commercial litigation and precedent-setting pro bono matters. In two impactful matters, Jayme led an HSG team that partnered with the ACLU in pro bono litigation that established important precedent on how employers must treat expecting and new mothers, Jayme spearheaded two first-of-their-kind discrimination lawsuits against Frontier Airlines, alleging that its policies toward pregnant and breastfeeding pilots and flight attendants violated the Civil Rights Act. Jayme notched settlements in both cases, marking a major step forward for gender equity in the airline industry.
Jayme also plays a vital role in the management of HSG. Her role as HSG’s first-ever woman administrative partner makes her the primary point of contact on a wide range of issues, including the firm’s diversity and inclusion initiatives. She is an active member of the firm’s D&I Committee, and under Jayme’s leadership, the Committee has established various affinity groups, including for LGBTQIA+ individuals and first-generation professionals, and recently launched a firmwide initiative called “Diversity Books for Kids.” The complete list of honorees can be viewed here. Jayme will be profiled in the upcoming Q4 issue of Profiles in Diversity Journal.
