Ian J. Miller
Overview
Ian Miller represents clients in a broad array of complex commercial disputes. He was a key member of a lean trial team representing a small supplier against Walmart that won a $101 million jury verdict in a breach-of-contract case. He represented two Belgian companies in a trade secrets case concerning female contraceptives, where he presented successful oral arguments supporting a motion for an indefinite stay of the case and opposing the plaintiff’s motion for a preliminary injunction. Among other matters, he currently represents Visa in multibillion-dollar national antitrust litigation.
After graduating first in his class from Columbia Law School, Ian began his career at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, where among other notable engagements he contributed to the successful defense of a $12+ billion SPAC transaction that was challenged across multiple jurisdictions. He subsequently served as a law clerk for the Honorable Jesse M. Furman of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York and for the Honorable Robert D. Sack of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and then joined Holwell Shuster & Goldberg at the conclusion of his clerkships.
Ian has a strong commitment to pro bono service and was recognized as a Public Interest Honoree for his efforts. Before entering law school, Ian was a high school teacher and debate coach after a highly successful college policy debate career.
